A contest entry for :iconweaponry-guild:
The theme this time was 'The duelist's weapon'

Originally I planned to make a futuristic version of the old gladiator combo of a trident and a net. I still like the design, but the model just wouldn't come out the way I wanted it to, so I dropped it. Still, I wanted to make something futuristic. Then I randomly decided I wanted to model something with hexes. Well, here you go.

These are a set of weapons for Data Duelists, virtual gladiators fighting in the Teraseum through a VES: a Virtual Experience Simulation installation. It all sounds a little complex, but it's basically just the game of the future, although this particular one has become a focus point of society. Powerful Data Duelists will regularly be sponsored and can make a living off fighting, esspecially since many prizes that can be won can be traded in for real life currency and a fair batch of it, too.

While they are called Data Duelists, the game is larger then just duels. Many aspects are much like a game and it plays like an MMORPG. Players can team up and travel through a massive variety of worlds, face monsters and gain rewards in the form of weapons or currency to upgrade existing weapons or buy new ones. Still, the dueling is society's focus point, since it's far more exciting and the most powerful weapons can only be won in tournaments or bought with an incredible amount of real money.

Just a basic idea. I wanted to at least make something for the contest, so here it is. A small note for one of the rules: while some of the Data Duelist weapons are traditional, most are morphing weapons like the Primary Hex, so the instead levitate near the hand or are attached to the back of the lower arm. Still, the sizes stay resonable (the diameter of one hex is a little under half a foot) so would fit in one hand, were they done in a traditional style.

A very interesting idea, dulce.

And Lot's wife, of course, was told not to look back where all those people and their homes had been. But she did look back, and I love her for that, because it was so human. So she was turned to a pillar of salt. So it goes.

I Love this idea! I'm already starting to design things that could be programmed into the hex module, right now, in my head.

When I'm having a really bad day and it seems that people are trying to piss me off, all I have to do is remember, it takes 42 muscles to frown and only 4 to extend my middle finger and tell them to F*** OFF!

And this is just one weapon type! :D

Later designs may include the Basic Bit (Simplistic morphing weapon), Datacube (Cube-based), Vectorframe ('Vector-based' wireframes), Freeform faces (Levitating plates, much like a puzzle) and/or Programmed Sphere (Autonomous floating turrets). I'm also inclined to make a tetrahedron shaped weaponsystem and call it Fourside :P
